Germany GD Duel entry? Really?

So in a conversation with one of my fellow Brushbrothers on Facebook last night, I decided to make something for GD Germany. No expectations to win of course since I plan to put only 10-15 hours into this project. But I figured, after much prodding, that I shouldn't go to the GD empty handed.

So I began to throw this socket together. I will leave it up there without a frame of reference for size, but be assured the steel beam is not overpowering that much.. less so once I put 2 models on this to duke it out!

Still more work needed, but I am probably 5 hrs in so far? If that really..

Anyways.. let me know what you think, and if I am crazy to be even attempting to go for the GD with an entry at all!

Cheers and now off to do some sightseeing in and around the woods! Fresh air and all that jazz!

  1. Oh, check out the rules about the duel base...
I think it needs to be on a 40x40mm or 50x50mm rectangle plastic base...

Other than that.... I'm curious to see it finished!

    1. Are you kidding me? This is a 30x30mm socket. So if I glue it to a 40x40 would that work then? If not then ARGH!!!!!!!

  2. Cut it off directly where the base begins, glue it to a 40x40 and cover up the side where it's not flush.... you know what I mean?

    1. I understand. I have another thought without cutting ( am bad at cutting ).. but are you sure it is a 40x40? Or 50x50? Or is it either? Just want to be sure before I work on 40x40 slot, and then find out it should be 50x50 :) But the idea I have could work on either.. argh.. at least I find out now instead of when registering ;) Thanks for that!

  5. Looks good, good luck in the contest!
re: base size, you'd think they'd be fine with a smaller base size than what they specify- i imagine they'd stipulate to prevent entries too large not too small.. but would suck to second guess then be wrong
