WIP Wednesday: Brekk Bust from Forged Monkey

So I have been working on this model for a while now. It is slow going so far, but the main colors have been laid down. This is in prep for me heading to Germany in September for the Massive Voodoo BAM workshops where I will get to paint this bust again! I am using this as a status marker to see where am I in this journey when painting on my own, versus what it would look like after the workshops! I am hoping to see improvements.. no pressure guys!

This is based off of the secret project photo I posted up a while back of my horrible drawing skills being put to use there.

The biggest thing about this is that I really do like painting larger figures and busts. There is more to explore, and I can play around with the colors better. Though the downside is also that the details are more visible, and mistakes are a lot more easier to spot! But you have to take the good with the bad on these I guess.

The yellows need to be reworked a lot more, as they are more dirty than painted at the moment. And the skin needs to have, my favorite quote, more contrast! Still not sold on the unshaven look. I might attempt something to change this, but the jury is still out at the moment :)

Comments are always welcome.. and post up more soon!

    1. You and me both! Though I have some ideas now sitting away from the model on how to improve it. So I hope to get back to it with renewed vigor soon!

  4. He's quite the character and there are so many ways you can go with him. I do like it when you do busts.

    How's your Alice coming?

    1. Thanks Anne. I really love painting up busts as well, and have dug out a few more that I might tackle in the short term also!

Alice is still in her natural state, though the color ideas and base is still in the design phase! Watch this space for her!
