Jason Bust

So prior to starting the Private Classes with Massive Voodoo crew I sat down to have a look at their trainee's first sculpt and give it a quick splash of paint.

When I first saw this online a while ago, my first impressions of it was that it was quite close to the late Actor John Candy. However, now that I have painted it up, it is reminding and looking more like Jonah Hill prior to losing so much weight.

So since this was going to be a quick paint job, I picked a simple scheme for it.

Starting with the skin, and hitting with the airbrush to get things moving along. I think that this might have come out a bit darker than I originally intended but the light source on his face was turning out well.

Darker hair, and a common white undershirt with blue over shirt. Again a very simple scheme to work with on this piece.

In the end this was only a few hours ( 2 or 3? ) that I worked on it.. so still much to do if I want to finalize it.

In the meantime, check out the other kind of step by steps below.. all of which were taken from my cell phone so not the best quality unfortunately.

Again, I really liked working on this piece. It was a lot of fun, and thankfully I have another one of them to work on in the future. Though I suspect I will make a small conversion on that one.

So look forward to seeing this piece get updated, and worked on a bit more in the future. but for now.. other projects and other agendas in regular life once more! More articles to come from last week.. still digesting it all!

    1. Wow.. thanks for the comment Greg! I think it is in the eyes.. cause the rest of the piece is still very rough and needs a lot of work... but your comments are motivation to get it finished to a higher level! Cheers!

  2. I agree. It's definitely the eyes. The sculpt is also fantastic, which is really helping to bring the bust to life. Excited to see the piece when you consider it "finished!"
