Dark Eldar Incubi

So this was an interesting unit to paint up... cannot say that I had the most fun with it.. but I am happy with the end result though.

Biggest thing here was that I wanted the to be dark, and I wanted them to have focus on the faces and blades. I think I succeeded on that front.

The green is a new recipe for me though. I tried to make the blades glowing. For this I started with bright green colors obviously, but the kicker was actually some Green Day Glow pigments from Forged Monkey.

Some very potent stuff here, and takes a bit of getting used to as well. But that being said, once you get used to it, it is really easy to use. However I do have to say that my table is awash with lots of green dust that seems to get everywhere.

But the next piece is their leader, the Archon. Keep an eye open for him...

    1. Hey Fran, click the link to get to Raffa's store. He has 6 colors in all, and I have 3 of them ( Red, Green and Blue ). Will definitely be trying out the others on newer projects in the future! Keep an eye out for them for sure! Or maybe even I will have a chance to show you in person one day? Who knows!

    1. Gracias JD

  5. Very cool effect and overall look! What did you use as medium to apply the pigment? Your brightest colour mixed with them? A special pigment-medium?

    Cheers

    1. HI Chris, actually I just put it into the whole mixture of paints. Nothing really special for pigment medium or anything. I mixed it both with the base color ( green ) and the highlight color ( yellow ). Just not with the shadow colors ( darker green? ). But mix well until you cannot see the pigment any further though, else it comes out really weird when dried.

    2. Thank you for the fast response. I'll try that later. Got the green one too and had some troubles with it. So I'm glad for every idea/info :)

  6. Fascinating, already thought of getting me the red one from that range for fire stuff. But whoa this stuff pops out.
*sigh* If you continue doing stuff like this I'll have to stop following here: you make me poor (by money) and too rich (with ideas)! ;-)

Nah just kidding. Keep them coming always nice to see your stuff here!

    1. I tried the red one for some of the lava, but it gave a weird shift in the color. But I can see it being used in other spots though.

And glad that this can inspire :) Let's hope I can keep that up in future posts also :)
