Weekend Efforts..

So I can honestly say that I have been in a painting slump for quite a while now. I can give the excuses of family, work, sickness, etc.. but really it has just been super busy with some up coming projects that are taking a lot of my creative juices to get off the ground. And I will be dropping that information on everyone very very soon!

In the meantime I do have a blast from the past in the ways of a commission. The old Project UK is back, and with a vengeance!

This has been really interesting for me to work on as the brief is to make them exactly as I did the older ones some 3 yrs ago!

If you have been following my blog over those 3 yrs, you might be able to tell that I have improved a bit during that time. So to go back and do mass production line painting once more, and to not a showcase level has been really interesting.

Thankfully it is like riding a bike, and I found that once I dug in, I began to really enjoy it!

The first batch was 46 Catachans to be painted like the bloke on the left in the above photo. The photo is pre final wash there however, where all the details popped up.

Although I had a bunch of activities with the family over the weekend, these got painted up quite quickly in the early mornings and late evening Saturday.

I then dug into a half painted set of metal figures to go in the same color scheme. And got them finished up late last night as well.

Although they will win no awards, the weapon load outs on them seem to be the ticket to win the wars though!

Combined his is 65 models done and dusted for this set of miniatures to get painted up. And probably the easier bunch as well.

Whats up next though for this set? Well.. I think some raging hero females might be in order.. but I plan to paint them almost as a one off really as I get them assembled and sorted.

Though I do have some other Infinity models that need to be painted, and they have some interesting colors to go with them as well.. so here is looking at that perhaps as well!

Expect to see a lot of these kind of posts coming back to the blog.. along with other bigger news in the short future!

  1. While not a GW fanboy! I have always like the Catachan fighters as they have a Vietnam conflict vibe to them.

    1. Indeed Clint.. They really are beginning to show their age though as well with the outdated sculpts.. well at least compared to the raging heroes that I have kicking around.. I hope they all look good together when finished ( at least will be the same colors schemes! ).. And will be quite an impressive lot when all finished up!

  3. Good to see you back at the brushes, Mr. Lee and a great offering you have for us. I refer these posts from back in the day and was always amazed at how quickly you got through the miniatures.

    1. Thanks Michael.. it did feel a bit nostalgic to be painting like this again instead of trying for a competition piece.. though I have many of those in the background just waiting to be released also ;)
