Project UK: Mutants PBS
What happens when you fall to the dark side, and let go of your faith in the Emperor? Well.. first the warp begins to seep into your brain, and then your head begins to shrink while your arms begin to bulge out! Or at least that is what happened to these poor SOBs!
They are part of the red coat main force that I am painting up. So I kept the colors as close to that as possible.
The skin and faces are what I am really happy with in this unit though. The skin was an experiment ( shhh don't tell the client ) in how to do some warp infused skin tones. Though I did start with the Vallejo Dead Flesh color, with a heavy ( like BuRock CD wash heavy ) GW Ogryn Flesh wash, and then another quick highlight of Dead Flesh. It came out the perfect green, but not really green color I was looking for.
In the face, although I am not doing eyes or teeth normally for this project, these guys needed it. The view of it without was too stark.
For teeth I just did a Vallejo Tierra Earth, Bone White, Delvan Mud wash. Quick, dirty, and easy.. just like these guys probably are on Friday nights!
It was the eyes though that I stumbled upon something a bit better. Going with yellow as a base, I think dabbed a bit of the new GW Casandora Yellow. For whatever reason, this paint is quite thick, and bright, but keeping its translucency all at the same time! End result? Glowing eyes! Fantastic.. will be updating some of my daemons with this trick now..
Photos of them below..
Nice eh?
And with this batch down, I head back to the girls for painting updates.. so expect to see some skin coming up soon ;)

They look tremendous; the eyes are just awesome!
ReplyDeleteI really like how they came out also.. and to think it was a fluke! Or I mean.. I meant to do that ;)
DeleteReally like what you did with those faces and the skin tone. Nice bit of work here.
ReplyDeleteThanks.. again another experiment.. I mean recipe in my painting book that I pulled out especially for this model.. ;)
Deletenice :) the orange-yellow eyes are cool, and I like the bronze armor- makes them look lower tech :)
ReplyDeleteAgain, thanks! The armor was simple though.. Vallejo Bronze, with a heavy dose of GW Delven Mud. That is it!
DeleteOOOO these fellas are obviously very corrupt personages. Nice paintjobs on these love the yellow gunky eyes
ReplyDeleteVery corrupt indeed! Thanks!
DeleteGreat eyes, great overall work Mr.Lee, stirring the juices I'm afraid!
ReplyDeleteThanks.. but um.. Stirring the juices? Mmm.. if that's your thing Fran.. all the power to you ;) I think most will enjoy the next couple posts coming up better :)
DeleteNice work, love the eyes!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray!
DeleteThese are great. Where are their legs from?
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris.. not sure where the legs are from to be honest. They were already assembled for me by the client. But they are quite nice, if not a bit static.
