Project Space Wolves: Grey Hunters Squads 1 and 2

Squad 1, being 9 members large. Last member is the original test model from the client.

So here are the first 2 units of Grey Hunters, both sporting 2 Meltas each. All the bolt pistols were removed, and replaced with Bolters. Mostly due to the fact that in 6th edition snap fire rules.

All these units were done to a Table Top standard.

The paint scheme was something new for me. The client's brief was to make it a darker tone. And to not match the GW's too blue tone that they use for the traditional Space Wolf color scheme.

This recipe started with a base coat of Vallejo Game Color Cold Grey, then a layer of Army Painter Dark Tone to darker it up. I followed this with GW Asurman Blue wash ( old color ), before hitting the model again with a highlight of Cold Grey. All this was done with the airbrush.

Then I painted the details like the black left shoulder pad, and red right shoulder pad. Black base for all the metals ( be they gold or silver ). All the fur had the GW Dryad Bark base, followed with Vallejo Game Color Khaki highlight. Other brone areas were base Vallejo Game Color Tierra Earth, followed by Khaki.

Finally once, all the colors were in place, then I did a brush on of Army Painter Strong Painter to tone all the colors down, and darken them all up.

Bases are done with Vallejo Game Color Bestial Brown, and then highlighted with Khaki. Simple, and effective. Need to include the flock or snow later on, again once everything is finished.

The last 2 units of Grey Hunters will show up tomorrow.. then on-wards to the 18 Long Hunters!

Squad 2.
